Email Marketing DONT’s

I recently received a “cold call” email from a vendor who provides lead lists, email lists to be exact. In this email the rep went on and on for over three lengthy paragraphs about his company and wonderful products. And at the end of the email was this statement: “I look forward to your email.”

What kind of closing is that? I’m still scratching my head wondering what in the world this guy wanted. I’m guessing, as most intelligent people might, that he wanted my business. But this goes back to one of the very first rules of sales and marketing, the call to action, and in the case of this email, there was none. Read more »

Confessions of a Twitter Lurker

Admittedly I am still a “newbie” when it comes to using Twitter, but I am learning more every day. When I started using Twitter the first thing I did was begin following the bloggers who I read on a regular basis. This access to the minute by minute updates from the likes of Chris Brogan and David Meerman Scott was just amazing to me. And then when @chrisbrogan followed me back, well I was just floored. To think that this influential marketer was following little ole me! (In case you haven’t figured it out, I’m a big fan of Chris’s writing.) Read more »

Are We Spoiled by Free Content?

One of my favorite things to do when I travel is peruse the airport gift shop for a good magazine to read while I wait for my plane. The airport gift shops always have an incredible selection of magazines, a whole wall of them. My SacTweetUp Recap

Last night I went to my first SacTweetUp. I was a little nervous at first because I didn’t know anyone there. I’m always a little shy when I meet new people, especially by myself. But I put on my best “social” face and ordered a drink. That usually helps.

I met so many great people! First I met Katrina who is an awesome business coach. She doesn’t pull punches and won’t let you get away with half-@ssed responses. I met Realtors, the best of whom was Chris; he was insightful. I met designers and marketing professionals, sales people and a self-professed serial entrepreneur. It was really amazing. Read more »

What I would do all day if I weren’t getting paid

Now let me preface this by saying that by “getting paid” I mean being a human pet in a cubicle, or in my case a 5×5 box. Ideally one day I will get paid solely by blogging.

Spend time with my precious Sweet Pea – Of course this is going to top the list for obvious reasons. Please note that this does not mean all day, just more time than currently because Mommy needs “me” time. Read more »

About Me

My name is Jennifer F. Williams and I am the mother of a beautiful little girl. My Sugar Muffin was born in October of 2007 and my world was turned upside down, although I didn’t realize it at first. During my maternity leave I started getting bored. Yes, bored. I longed for adult interaction (not uncommon, I know) and to be productive. I was actually looking forward to going back to work! When I did finally go back to my Marketing job after my maternity leave it felt good but was also incredibly tough. Read more »
